Cheaper Hair Coloring
If you are unfortunate enough to be in the position of having to color your hair, you can save money by purchasing the dye, developer and an applicator or two at a beauty supply store. The developer can be purchased in large bottles, and the dyes can be purchased separately in small bottles like the ones that come in the kits. The application bottles have measurements on the side, making it easy to use just what you need (such as just half of a bottle of dye for touching up your temples and roots). The intense post-coloring conditioners are also available in large bottles. The cost works out to be far less than a $5 to $9 hair coloring kit, especially if you color or touch-up every four to six weeks.

What's In Your Closet?
To squelch my urge to buy new clothes, I decided to wear every shirt I owned to work and see how long it took before I repeated. I'm lucky enough to be able to wear casual t-shirts to work, as well as dressier blouses. By wearing absolutely everything in my collection, it took me two months before I wore the same shirt! In the process, I discovered some I disliked and some that no longer fit that I could give to thrift stores. And I did successfully lose the urge to buy even more clothes once I realized how much I already had!

Better Baby Shower
When the ladies at my church asked me if I wanted a baby shower for my third baby, I had already stockpiled and saved practically everything my new baby girl will need when she arrives. Everybody spends a fortune on the first baby, but with subsequent children, we know just how few of the common baby shower gifts are actually put to good use. I considered turning the shower down. Then one of the ladies had a brilliant idea. She suggested a diaper shower! If you're on your second (or 15th!) child, chances are that you have most of the things you'll need to clothe, bathe, and care for your baby, but that doesn't mean your friends and family can't help you over the financial hump of a new baby. Diapers are something you can never have too many of!
